Indexation
How a rent is indexed, when it is blocked, and why it waits for you by default.

Indexing a rent is arithmetic with a legal argument attached. Dardaris does the arithmetic, shows the argument, and by default waits for you before anything reaches the tenant.
By default, because it is a setting rather than a law of the product. An indexation is a Review action and apply_indexation is on the always-ask list to begin with, which is two locks, both of them yours to open. Change them and it sends on its own. See autonomy tiers and spend caps.
When indexation happens
Indexation falls on the anniversary of the lease start, not on the calendar year, and only where the contract allows it. Dardaris schedules it when the lease is created and puts it in front of you a month before the anniversary so there is time to send a correct notice.
The calculation
The formula and the figures it used are shown in full on the lease dossier, under Money. You see the base index, the new index, the base rent and the result, and you can read the calculation back before you agree to it.
The correction factor differs by jurisdiction, and using the wrong one produces a number that looks plausible and is not enforceable. That is why the rule lives in the jurisdiction pack rather than in the screen. See what a pack decides.
When it is blocked
A jurisdiction may block or cap indexation on a poor energy rating. Where that applies, Dardaris shows you the block, the rating that caused it, and the amount you would have been entitled to otherwise. It does not present a blocked indexation as if it were available.
Approving it
Indexation is a Review workflow by default, and there is a reason it stays there: it raises somebody's rent and it puts a formal notice in the post. Nothing is sent until you approve it. See approving something.
Change the rent by hand instead if you would rather. The lease keeps both the calculated figure and what you actually charged, so next year starts from the truth.
