Cookies, in short

A cookie is a small file your browser keeps for a site and sends back on your next visit. Browser storage works the same way for the purposes of this policy, so this document covers both and calls them all cookies.

Strictly necessary cookies sign you in and remember the preferences you set, and they cannot be switched off without breaking the thing you came for. Analytics cookies are optional, and they are the only ones that wait for your permission. The full policy lists every key Dardaris writes, by name, with what it is for and how long it lasts, and a test fails the build if one ships without a line there. It also names the two things outside that guarantee: a library version that adds a key of its own, and the security cookie the network we are served over may set.

Pages, a short list of hand-written events, your account id once you are signed in, ordinary technical properties, and errors the product throws. No session recording, no autocapture and no surveys: all three are switched off in the code rather than in a setting, so turning one on takes a deploy and a new version of this policy.

No advertising or social company sets a cookie from its own domain while you are here: no ad network, no social button, no embedded video, no chat widget, and the typefaces are served from here rather than from a font provider. Two companies are still involved and the full policy names both. Analytics reaches PostHog through this site's own domain, which changes who your browser connects to and not who receives the data or PostHog's role as a third party; and Cloudflare, which serves the site, may set a security cookie of its own.

Analytics events are received and stored in the European Union. The company that operates Dardaris sits outside the European Economic Area and can read them, which for an EEA reader is a transfer; the privacy policy is where the safeguards and your rights over it are set out.

The banner offers accept and refuse on the same layer in the same style, with nothing ticked in advance. The cookie preferences control reopens that panel from the footer of every public page, from this page, and from the account menu and House rules inside the product, so taking an answer back is one step from wherever you are. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as a refusal and we do not ask again. Your browser can clear the lot whenever you like, but clearing site data also loses any edit that has not yet reached your account.

Necessary cookies rest on the exemption for storage that is indispensable to a service you asked for; that exemption is about putting a thing on your device, and the separate basis for processing what is on it is in the privacy policy. Analytics rest on your consent and on nothing else. Your decision is recorded with the moment you made it and the version in force, a refusal lasts exactly as long as an acceptance, both expire after six months, and changing your mind is one click. Withdrawing stops what happens next rather than erasing what already happened lawfully. Nothing in the product works differently either way.

The effective date at the top of the full policy changes when the document changes. A change that widens what runs, what it collects or who receives it bumps the version and asks everyone again; a correction that touches none of those does not.
