Index a Walloon rent, from a base that may already have been reset.
Wallonia runs the health index formula with no correction factor at all. Instead, a lease rated PEB D to G through the 2022 freeze had its restricted rent turned into the new permanent base on 1 November 2023.
Letting law is written below the country here, so the rules differ inside it.
Belgium indexes the rent the lease states, excluding charges, never last year's indexed figure. Leave it empty to use the rent above.

No correction factor in Wallonia. For a lease affected by the 2022–23 freeze the base rent itself is the restricted one, so the multiplier applies to a lower number.

The questions that follow.
- How do you index a rent in Wallonia?
- The new rent is the base rent multiplied by the health index of the month before the anniversary and divided by the health index of the month before signature. There is no correction factor in Wallonia.
- Why does Wallonia have no correction factor?
- Because it took the restriction differently. Wallonia made the restricted rent itself the new base from 1 November 2023, so applying a Brussels style factor on a Walloon base overcharges the tenant every year thereafter.
- What did the 2022 freeze do to my rent?
- Between 1 November 2022 and 31 October 2023 the increase was cut to three quarters on PEB D, to half on E, and to nothing on F and G.
